PEDRAMI GALLERY presents
Three Daughters of Zeus
An exhibition by Maryam Salahi
I am an Iranian woman carrying the experience of living in a landscape filled with contradiction, silence, and censorship. To be a woman in a society that both promotes and suppresses desire — where female bodies are commodified yet controlled — is to live within constant tension.
Through my art, I transform that tension into voice and visibility, turning censorship into creation. My works explore the female body not as an object of consumption, but as a conscious, resistant presence. Desire becomes a form of resistance — a space where vulnerability and strength coexist, where pleasure is reclaimed as a path toward liberation.
Three Daughters of Zeus continues this exploration through the lens of memory, loss, and resilience. The project began beside my dear friend Nilgun, who was battling breast cancer. Together, we dreamt of transforming her medical experience into art — of turning suffering into creation. After her passing, I continued the work in her memory.
Rooted in myth and lived experience, Three Daughters of Zeus is a tribute to the enduring power of women — to heal, to create, and to find freedom within pain.
Experience an evening that celebrates art as healing, remembrance as strength, and creation as freedom.
